This DIY is based on the components of the Weltmeister Short Shift, it may be slightly differ from other kits.

Remove the center console by unscrewing 6 screws.  For detail instruction on how to remove the center console please consult the center console DIY   Remove the shift knob by pulling the shift knob upwards, this may not  be easy because of the tight fit.

Remove the four 10mm bolts to remove the shift boot.

Once the four bolts are removed, simply pull the shift boot off the lever.

From underneath the car, remove 14 bolts to take off the center cover and a metal plate.

This is what you should see after taking off the tunnel cover piece and the metal plate from under the car.  Note: the rubber boot on the left side of the picture also will need to be taken off as well.

The stock guide tube will be replaced by the kit’s new guide tube.

Remove the factory guide tube that is connected to an angular (ball) joint  by simply pulling and twisting.  This procedure would be easier if you unbolt the 2 bolts that holds the bearing plate up.

Once the factory guide tube and the bearing plate is removed you will need to grind or saw off the ball joint off bearing plate and drill a new 1/2" hole in the center of the bearing plate where the old angular (ball)  joint is.

Iinsert the new bolt that comes with the kit and bushings that is supplied with the kit along with the new guide tube to the bearing plate, install back into the car.  Below is a completed picture of the new assembly.
